November is a month to focus on giving thanks.
I desire to live a life filled with thanksgiving and gratitude, but taking a month to focus on that helps to cultivate those characteristics and the habit of giving thanks.
Last year I downloaded a Hybrid Project for making a Thanksgiving Advent Calendar. You can click on the link to see what it was supposed to look like, but, unfortunately, it’s not available for download anymore.
I had all intentions to make this last year and use it as an Advent Calendar of giving thanks during the month of November. But, as often happens with my well intentions, it never happened.
I remembered these calendar cards just before the start of November this year and got to work on putting them together. It took me a couple of days to finish it…yes, I’m slow when I’m working with paper and scissors…hense the reason why I’m a digital scrapbooker! But finish it I did!!
I am so happy with how these cards turned out!
I punched two holes in each envelope and threaded autumn colored ribbon through them (similar to making a banner). I hung these in a long hallway and each day the kids and I write things that we are thankful for in the card for that date. We have missed a few days, but I’m learning to not let imperfection deter me from my goals, so we’re continuing on to the next day when we forget.
It would be easy to make your own thankfulness cards using library pockets and cards sized to fit in them.

We put up one of the Christmas trees early, and decorate it with an autumn color paper clain (great time with my kindergardner working on patterns!) and all the fall things my 1st grader and kindergardner made in 4K and kindergarden— paper indians, hand-print turkeys, fall trees traced from their hand, pumpkins, etc. We also included pictures of people we are thankful for as ornaments on the tree.
I have a large ceramic pumpkin, and we are writing down things we are thankful for and putting them in the pumkin, and we will share them together as a family on Thanksgiving. 🙂
Love your banner– it looks great!
Love ya! Jenn

The cads look beautiful Monica. You did a great job. I try and ask my kids every day one thing they are thankful for. I know, pretty lame, but it’s all I have time for right now. I love the idea of the thankfulness cards. I might have to consider those next year!

This is lovely, Monica! We are writing down things we are thankful for on leaf shaped paper and just attaching it to the wall in our school room. I’m trying to incorporate a little FLL with it too…. is it a common noun or a proper noun? 🙂
Side note – do I remember correctly that you are on Pinterest and can invite others? If so, I would love an invite. Thanks!
