Last Friday I quickly made a vinyl cover the diaper wipes case in diaper bag.
It was a pink polka dot design with Jenny’s name in teal.
Nothing fancy or over the top.
It’s not the best quality ever…there’s lots of bubbles in it because I did it so quickly and I’m learning to use vinyl with my Silhouette cameo.
It was a fun, quick project.
But from the look on Jenny’s face at receiving this gift, you would have through that it was the best, most elaborate project ever!
She held onto it all afternoon and repeated over and over, “mine…mine…Mommy, me….mine” while pointing to this item that I made for her.
And then it hit me…this is exactly why I craft.
The look on my little two year old’s face of pride and happiness at receiving a gift made by me just for her is exactly why I spend time crafting and creating.
There is something extra special about a handmade gift.
Giving someone something that I have taken time and effort to create is a blessing to them.
And that, in turn, is a blessing to me.

I craft because I have a need to feel creative and I love the process of watching the finished project emerge. When it’s done, there’s always that moment of “wow… I just made that… I created something from nothing” that feels validating.
I love being able to give handmade gifts too.

So cute! I just started doing vinyl with my Cricut and love it. My favorite thing was taking sand buckets from the dollar store and cutting out names for them (teacher gifts, bday parties, etc).

I bake for similar reasons. Just knowing that what I did made someone’s day is all the reward that’s needed:-)
