Hello and happy Friday, friends!!
I’m excited to be back on the blog sharing a weekly update in the form of “weekly whatsoevers”. Let’s go!
//one// COVID Vaccine
I, along with my 16 year old twin daughters, received my first dose of the Pfizer COVID Vaccine. I am so thankful for the scientists who have made this possible. I am also thankful for our president’s leadership in making getting the vaccine’s out and available for everyone a priority.
I am hopeful for what this vaccine means to our country and to me personally finding a new normal without COVID. I am excited to visit with family when we’re all fully vaccinated.
//two// Independent Bookstore Day
Tomorrow is Independent Bookstore Day!! I made a purchase earlier this week from one of my favorite Independent Bookstores in my local area and am excited to celebrate this weekend by attending an event with a favorite bookstore in Thomasville, Georgia. My husband and I are supporters of Independent Bookstores and have big dreams of owning our own Independent Bookstore after he retired from the Army.
Here are a few of my favorite Independent Bookstores in the Northern Virginia Area:
Old Town Books
Hooray for Books
Politics and Prose Bookstore
Here’s an easy way you can support your own Independent Bookstore this weekend:
//three// Braver Freebie Hop at The Lilypad
The Lilypad designers have teamed up to create a huge, beautiful FREE kit that you can get by going through the Blog Hop that begins here. This will be available through April 28 and then a complimentary kit, Stronger and Smarter, will be available in the shop as a special free with purchase kit during National Scrapbook Day next weekend.
//four// Currently Reading
I am currently reading Madame Speaker: Nancy Pelosi and the Lessons of Power by Susan Page. It has been really interesting reading about this phenomenal leader and her family background. As a former Republican, I was taught to hate her without a real reason why. I was drawn to read this after hearing Susan Page speak at a Politics and Prose event I attended in DC. She also wrote a book about Barbara Bush that’s on my TBR list.
//five// Listening To
I have been trying to catch up on some of my favorite podcasts. Lately, I am binging episodes of The Currently Reading Podcast. I love listening to the hosts talk books!
//six// Eating
We have tacos in some form or fashion every Tuesday in my house. This week we had breakfast tacos using this recipe my husband found for Bacon, Egg and Cheese Breakfast Tacos. They were delicious!!! I served them with hash browns and everyone loved it!
//seven// Watching
My husband and I are taking a break from TV series and have been watching movies on our Thursday date nights. The past two weeks we watched Pitch Perfect and Pitch Perfect 2. Somehow we missed these movies when they came out, but we both enjoyed watching them so much!! It has been so good to just sit together and laugh!
//eight// Homeschool Update
We are down to our last few weeks of homeschool for this academic year! We have two weeks and one week of standardized testing. In fact the test booklets just arrived this week and are sitting on my desk. We are all ready for a break after working really hard all year! And I am thinking about ordering curriculum and nailing down plans for next year.
Have a great weekend and don’t forget to celebrate Independent Bookstore Day by supporting your local Indie!!!
