I love to read.
I mean, I really, really love to read.
This is the thing that relaxes me more than anything.
Give me time alone and a good book and I’m one happy mama.
Jenny threw quite a curve ball into my reading for a while after she was born.
I read zero books between the time she arrived and my birthday, basically from May to August.

None
In fact, I received Bringing Up Girls to read just a week or so before and had only made it to the third chapter.
And then for my birthday, Keith gave me a Kindle from Amazon.
Actually, because it was back ordered, it arrived a couple of weeks after my birthday, in mid-September.
In the month (I can hardly believe that it’s only been a month!!) that I’ve had my Kindle, I’ve read a total of six books! And two of those are non-fiction books that normally take me a little longer to get through.
As you can see, having a Kindle has made a huge difference in the life of this busy mama!
Now instead of the baby being a hindrance to my reading, sitting down to nurse her has actually provided me with a wonderful opportunity for some quiet reading time.
Here is a list of the books that I’ve completed….(reviews will be forthcoming).
Take Three and Take Four by Karen Kingsbury
Her Daughter’s Dream by Francine Rivers
Bringing Up Girls by James Dobson
Healthy Sleep Habits, Happy Child by Marc Weissbluth, MD
Dawn’s Prelude by Tracie Peterson
I also have The One Year Bible on my Kindle and it has greatly helped me during my morning quiet times when things may not be so quiet.

The book by Francine Rivers was my favorite! I love her too and think I’ve read almost everything she’s written.

I love reading and have been on a spell of not reading much lately also. Recently I have read “Take Four,” “Bringing Up Girls,” and Books 3 & 4 of the 911 Newpointe Series ( I can’t remember what they are called)
I have “The Hole in the Gospel” and “Me and My Big Mouth” on my current reading list and way too many to list here for my upcoming book list.

Some of those are new to me, I’ll have to check them out :)!

I also love to read. Is it hard to read on a kindle? I’m not sure I would like it the same. I just finished reading Twilight’s Serenade by Tracie Peterson. It was really good! I can’t wait to see your reviews for these books. I’m always looking for new books to read! Of course, when our baby is born in November my reading may slow down as well!

I do like reading on the Kindle much more than I ever thought I would. Dawn’s Prelude is the first book I’ve read by Tracie Peterson. I really enjoyed it and will probably soon read the next in that series. I tend to find authors I like and read everything they write. Congratulations on your upcoming birth!! Just remember that the demanding newborn stage doesn’t last forever and you’ll get back to all those things (like reading) that may slow down for a while.

I really want one! Everyone that has one seems to love it! Glad you’re getting to enjoy reading again!

HI Monica,
I ran across your website through Max Lacado today. Awesome. I love Francine Rivers. A book I have recently read is The 4:8 Principle (The secret to a joy-filled life) by Tommy Newberry. I noticed you have Phillipians 4:8 on your blog. It is one of my favorite scriptures. Are you on facebook? I would like to get to know you better. I think we have alot in common. I am a homeschooling mom of 19 years.
