Checking our mail can be a big even for us. I usually try to time it so that I go when the kids aren’t with me because it is incredibly hard to push Will in the stroller, with the girls walking along with us holding onto the sides, and carry a package out the door an to our car.
When Mindy was here, we started going together after playgroup. That way, she would watch my kids while I went in and I would do the same for her. Life just isn’t the same anymore! MC even asked if we had to wait until Mindy came back from Maryland to go to the post office!
The girls get excited over being able to go with me to the post office to check the mail. And they are even more excited if we actually get a package in the mail.
This week we got a very exciting package….a box of new paper for their art easel. It was exciting for several reasons.
They got to go to the post office withe me.
They really needed new paper for their easel…we had been without anything for a while.
And they had a blast playing with the actual box.
MC made a “necklace” out of the packing paper…
EA played with the cardboard tube from the used roll of paper….
And Will sat in the empty box…
Sometimes fancy toys can be a bit overrated, especially when a simple package in the mail can be so much fun!

Such cute pictures! It is so true that kids get a lot more fun out of simple free things. Why do we keep getting them toys, when they are just happy with a paper towel holder or empty box?
