Jenny has all but given up daytime naps.
It makes me very sad and her very grumpy by the end of the day.
But, since moving to Texas I have separated her and Will during quiet time. He goes to my room with toys and Jenny is in their room by herself.
And every few days, I find that she has fallen asleep playing in her room.
The tends to fall asleep in the funniest places, though.
One day last week, I walked into her room when quiet time was over to find her sound asleep on the window seat by Will’s bed.
She was sleeping so hard and the sun was shining in the window that it made waking up hard for her.
And, even though she had a great nap, she still spend the rest of the afternoon being quite grouchy.
*sigh*
What’s the mommy of a tired toddler to do?
How do you handle that time when your little ones begin dropping their naps?

My 2 1/2 year old has pretty much given up naps too but luckily she doesnt get too cranky. She has never been an early riser so she is on a later schedule to make up for the not napping. She goes to bed between 8:30-9 (same time as the 5 year old who has never seemed to require as much sleep as other children) and sleeps til 9 most mornings, sometimes as late as 10:30. It’s been working for us. I’m not tied to the house in the afternoons because of naps and I found that if she slept much past 4:00 she was taking a long time to go to sleep at night-sometimes not falling asleep until 10:00 or later!!! The biggest benefit of her not napping is she goes right to sleep when she goes to bed, no fussing and calling for Mommy for an hour! 🙂

Oh, I can relate! My son – now 3 1/2 – gave up his naps a few months ago. Every once in awhile, I too find him asleep somewhere near where we are, usually on the couch or the floor next to the couch! I don’t fight him or force him to do anything. I’ve chosen to skip that battle esp since he’s finally sleeping through the night alone in his room!
