My two precious girls celebrated their eighth birthday yesterday.
These two are such a delight. They are growing and maturing and bring me such joy every single day.
This birthday seemed to sneak up on me…I think it was denial. I certainly had no valid excuse for not being keenly aware of its approach since EA and MC have been counting down the days for the past month.
Before going to bed on Saturday night MC expressed that she was sad because it was her last day of being seven. Her knowing that and being able to express exactly what my heart was feeling as well is just another indication of her growing up.
She also knocked on our door later that night to tell my husband and I that we can still call her our baby.
We had a busy day planned, with church and having friends over for cake and ice cream in the afternoon, so we let the girls open their presents yesterday morning…it usually has to wait until later.
(I love how excited EA was over a her new book!)
After church, we had a quick lunch and began getting ready to welcome friends into our home.
We haven’t met a lot of people here, yet, so I was so appreciative of my friend Ann and the girls’ AWANA leader, Jill, who came with their children.
I worked all day on Saturday to make EA and MC’s two requested cakes.
The strawberry cake was huge…four layers!!! And, yes, that’s rolo candies on top of the chocolate cake…yum!
The strawberry cake was so huge and a bit top-heavy that it toppled over as my friend was going in for another slice.
I have one piece of cake for any party hostess who finds herself in this situation…
…don’t cry over a toppled cake…grab the camera (and have a laugh with your friends)!
After cake and ice cream the kids ran outside to enjoy the beautiful Texas weather!!
These girls are two of the biggest blessings of my life!
They introduced me to motherhood and teach me valuable lessons about life, parenting, love, and faith every single day.
