So…we’ve had some birthdays around here.
Will is now a big six and he thinks he’s already in first grade because “six means first grade, right?”. He has in fact started on some first grade work in homeschool, so he’s not completely off in his thinking.
Jenny turned three yesterday and I’m a little sad about that. She has a little friend who is a bit older than her and now that Jenny had a birthday they’ll be the same age for a few months. Jenny says that she’s “three as Maggie”.
Since I can’t seem to get my act together to do a big run down of both of our birthdays full of pictures, I thought I would share a little bits of both of our birthdays and some of our birthday celebrations and traditions.
This year, I inadvertently started a new tradition of putting birthday candles on their breakfast. I usually do a special breakfast for the kids’ birthday and the candles make it a little extra special. It’s a great way to make sure we celebrate all day.
For Will’s birthday last week I made a run out to Dunkin for his favorite…Chocolate Sprinkle Doughnuts! (I think they may be my favorite, too!)
Jenny had cinnamon rolls and scrambled eggs for her birthday breakfast. Her three candles fit nicely in the cinnamon roll.
I think blowing birthday candles out at breakfast is a tradition that we’ll keep.

Ah, happy birthday to your kiddos. I think this year I will surprise mine with birthday breakfasts. My daughter usually requests pancakes and my son bacon!
