Sunday night, our chapel put on a children’s Christmas pageant called a “Living Creche”. It was done outside and there were even some live animals present (two ducks and two chickens).
We arrived at the chapel Sunday afternoon to begin preparations. The children picked out their parts and tried on costumes before the chaplain talked them though the Christmas story.
The girls were angels and Will was given the part of Baby Jesus by default of being the only baby in attendance.
Poor Will!!
He hated the manger and cried all the way though. Finally I couldn’t stand it anymore and I recsued him from his torture during the wise men’s visit.
One of the chaplains joked with me afterward that I must have gotten my Bible stories confused. It was Baby Moses who’s real mother came and raised him as a baby, not Baby Jesus!!
Oh, well…
I was able to get a picture of me and my little baby in the manger afterwards. The straw couldn’t have been very comfortable for our Lord.

Poor little Will! This is hilarious though. I’m sure he’ll get a kick out of the picture of his rescue when he’s a bit older. The Angels were adorable in their coats and mittens.

Ya know I never thought about the hay being uncomfortable for our Lord, always imagined him all snug in the manger… thanks for that picture.
