This afternoon I took the girls and Will on a walk to check our mail and get a blended Cafe Mocha (ummm, YUMMY) from Starbucks. Just have to say here that I really, really, really miss having a mail box!
As we were walking, Mary Catherine began asking about some of our adult friends who are away visiting their families in the states. Here’s the conversation:
MC: “Mommy, where’s Jess?”
Me: “She’s visiting her Mommy and Daddy.”
MC: “Where’s Ashley?”
Me: “She went to visit her Mommy and Daddy, too.”
MC: “Where’s Jessica?”
Me: “Well, she’s visiting her Mommy and Daddy, too.”
The next statement from Mary Catherine really doesn’t have anything do to with those “friends” who are away. I am learning that conversations with three year olds can be a bit jumpy. But this really does show her perspective of the way things look around here.
MC: “Yeah….All the Daddies are in Iraq and all the Mommies are at home.”

Our family has been through two deployments, so my kids get that perspective too. Isn’t it sad that our children have to grow up with the name of that country forever engraved in their minds. Who would have thought…

I really admire you and all military moms!
God bless you!

I’ve thought many times how difficult it must be to have your husband deployed. I think it would be even harder to be away from family during that time. I admire your strength and your faith and truly appreciate the sacrifices you, your husband, and your children are making for us! Our country is blessed by your service!
