Hello friends and happy Monday to you!!!
It has been one month and one day since we started our move from El Paso, Texas to Alexandria, Virginia. We have been busy settling into our new home and exploring the area.
We have also been embracing the fact that it’s going to take a while to fully settle in. One reason for that is we ordered new furniture for what we are calling our “reading room” and it’s going to take several weeks to be delivered. We also prioritize rest and spending time as a family on the weekends, which is the only time my husband has to work on the house, play and rest.
My husband began working right away and is loving his new work situation. It is unlike any other job he has had with the Army and has taken some adjusting (for example…he’s wearing a SUIT to work instead of a uniform!!).
If you’re a regular reader I want to say THANK YOU for sticking with me!!! My blogging has been so inconsistent over the last couple of years and I’m hoping that our new set up will enable me to be more consistent with sharing on this platform.
With that said, I’m seeing today’s post of “goals and grace” as my new beginning with blogging.
My goals for this week include:
- pick up dry cleaning
- car inspection
- register car in VA
- hang curtains in kids’ rooms
- hang curtains in Will’s bathroom
- call Tricare
- hang pictures in girls’ room
- hang pictures in girls’ bathroom
- take Cupcake to vet for dental cleaning and exam
- visit a local bookstore
Fun plans for the week include:
- take Will and Jenny to see Toy Story 4
- lunch with a friend
- watch Big Brother Premier
- Date Night with kids to see Yesterday
I have been back to menu planning and cooking most of our meals at home since our second week here (which seems like it has been much longer than it actually has).
Here’s our menu plan for this week:
Monday – Skillet Lasagna
Tuesday – Crock Pot Ranch Chicken Tacos
Wednesday – BBQ Chicken Salad Wraps
Thursday – Chicken Burrito Bowls
Friday – Friday Night Dinner (TBD)
Saturday – Grill Burgers
Sunday – Chicken Sandwiches
Most meals are served with a simple side of veggies or fresh fruit.
I can’t tell you how good it feels to be back in this space where I can begin making goals and plans for our days. Of course, those goals are always cushioned with lots of grace so that there is room for life to be lived to its fullest.
Do you have any fun plans for the week?

Welcome back and back to VA! 🙂 I’m still trying to get things in order from school getting out 2 weeks ago and swim team dominates our lives these days. I’m still cleaning, organizing and going thru papers and supplies. My kids are in Vacation bible school this week so I have to get all the things done!
