Lately Will has been a terror to get into his car seat.
He just does not want to sit in it.
I remember my girl friends talking about their kids pitching fits and being so hard to get into their car seats and being completely mortified at the thought of that happening to me when my girls were about six months old.
I just could not imagine my sweet babies not sitting nicely while I buckled the 5-point harnesses on their car seats.
Eventually they did go through this stage and we all survived…somehow.
I was completely unprepared again for Will’s entering this stage. I remember the girls being much older when they did this.
But he is doing everything so much earlier than they did. Just why is that??
Almost every single time I put my Will into his car seat, he arches his back, cries (whines), tries to crawl out, turns over….he basically does any and everything to escape the terrible confinement of his car seat.
I figured out his motivation for fighting so hard last week.
Will climbed into the car ahead of the girls and immediately sat in the space in the back between their two car seats. He was content as anything sitting right there between the loves of his life….his two sisters.
While it is terribly frustrating to have to fight the car seat battle whenever we go somewhere it also melts my heart to know that he really just wants to be sitting by his sisters.

That is so sweet. It’s nice to know the reason behind the behavior since it is hard for him to express it correctly. Is it possible to put his car seat there? I’m guessing it would be a tight squeeze…

Too sweet! That’s precious that he just wants to be with them!
