EA received the Kit movie to go along with her American Girl doll for Christmas.
Because we’ve been so busy, we had to keep putting off when she could watch her new movie.
Yesterday we promised her that she could watch it anytime she wanted to today. She decided that she wanted it to be very first thing she did in 2013.
So, this morning, we all watched Kit and had breakfast together.
I’m so glad we took the time to watch this movie. And I’m especially glad that I took time to sit down and watch it with everyone else.
This is a great movie about life during the Great Depression, a period of our history that is fascinating to me.
It really put a lot of things into perspective for me. I’ve had a negative attitude lately and I’ve been stressing about a whole host of concerns with our move. This movie taught me that I really have a lot to be thankful for.
Yes, moving is hard and it’s stressful. But, we are moving because my husband has a job…a very stable and reliable job.
That is a blessing.
We have a roof over our heads and we’re together.
Those two things are incredible blessings as well!
After watching Kit with my family, I’ve had a better attitude.
I’m actually embracing life a little better because of it!
After the movie, my husband brought in an old typewriter that belonged to his mom. He’s been holding onto it, not knowing why. The American Girl Kit is an aspiring writer and types her newspaper articles on a typewriter.
EA’s face just lit up when her Daddy showed her this antique typewriter, much like the one Kit used.
She found a piece of paper…the lone one in this empty house…and spent the morning typing away on her new typewriter.
She wants to practice more when we’re in Texas and has said that she wants to put it in her new room.
The first thing she typed was also the first thing she said when she woke up this morning, “Happy New Year!”
Linda says
I love it! Happy New Year to you and your family. Hope your move goes smoothly and you are able to feel at home quickly.
