I admit it…I’m from the South. I have a very definite southern accent.
The Army is a very diverse place. There are people around me from just about EVERYWHERE. More often than not, when I meet someone new, they automatically know I’m from the South because of my accent.
Once upon a time I tried to hide it, but I have come to realize that it’s just a part of who I am and I’m okay with that.
The bad thing is that my children are picking up my southern draw, especially Mary Catherine.
Only a Child of Mine could turn “yeah” into a four syllable word.

Try that with an added British accent and you’ve got Miss M! She’s so funny to listen to. I think I might be glad that the British satellite is on the fritz.

I love my southern accent! I am glad you have grown to like yours too. Children are especially cute when they speak southern.

That’s how people are with me. I’m from Maryland and everyone always comments that they can tell I’m from up north. I love that!

How funny!

Cute! I’m a “Yankee” and my husband is from the South. I’ve picked up on a few phrases. Our daughter told someone the other night that she lives in South Caah-Raw- Liiii-naaah. I almost laughed out loud!
