EA and MC started out today arguing and bickering over everything imaginable.
While I was getting dressed I heart agruging for the umpteenth time of the morning.
I went in to see what was going on.
Apparently they were playing kitchen. EA was pretending to cook dinner and MC wanted to put food on the plates.
The problem was that EA said dinner wasn’t ready yet. So, she was upset that MC was putting “undone” food on the plates and wanted her to wait.
Made sense to me.
Often I can help them settle disagreements by just going along with the pretend play.
So I asked MC if she wouldn’t just wait until the food was ready before the fixed the plates.
Her response…..
But I can’t wait becuse I don’t like waiting.
Mary Catherine’s don’t wait.
They just don’t.
Oh, how true and honest that was!!
She’s a little impatient like her mommy. But at least she’s ready to admit it!
It was a good reminder for me this morning of the importance of waiting. Of being still and waiting on the Lord to renew my strength when I am tired and weary.
Yet those who wait for the LORD Will gain new strength; They will mount up with wings like eagles, They will run and not get tired, They will walk and not become weary.
Isaiah 40:31

Isn’t the imaginary play FUN– when they can agree! Nathan and Rachel do the same thing– yesterday Rachel made a birthday cake for Nathan out of duplo blocks. He would have none of it– she is sweetly singing happy birthday to him– trying to give him his “cake”, and he is yelling “but it’s not my birthday” and running away. HILARIOUS.
Great analogy with MC and the scripture. I wonder at what age we stop being SO honest??? Sometimes I think God would rather we be honest about our struggles than to continue to pretend we have it all together. 🙂 Thanks for sharing!
