After their bedtime story tonight, EA asked me if I could sleep with her. I told her that I couldn’t but could see that she just needed someone to be close to her tonight.
And I had a crazy idea…..”Would you like to sleep with your sister?”
I started regretting it as soon as the words left my mouth.
But the girls were both so excited about the prospect that I just went with it.
I went into their room and started rearraning furniture.
Yes, at 7 pm (bedtime) I go into their room to move beds around so their two toddler beds are side by side and they can sleep together. And moving their beds meant that I also had to move their rug and some toy shelves.
In the midst of doing this, I thought, “WHAT AM I THINKING????”
I cautioned them numerous times that they couldn’t play, they had to go to sleep when lights were out.
With promises that they would be good, and lots of giggles, I turned out the lights and left their room.
I put Will in to bed as I listened to them stirring around.
I had to tell them to settle down just a couple times before things quited down.
I passed time by reading though some blogs then I went in to check on them.
And they were both soundly sleeping in their beds.
I’m not sure how long this new sleeping arrangement will last, but I’m going to cherish this cuteness while it does!

That is so sweet! My sister and I used to BEG to sleep in our sleeping bags in the doorways of our rooms (which were right next to each other). I’m pretty sure we didn’t “sleep” much, but I have great memories of the sister time. 🙂

How sweet! Ours girls’ beds won’t go that close together, but I bet they’d sleep like that if they could. What a GREAT idea to give them some additional comfort. And I am impressed that you were able to let them settle in mostly on their own. I wouldn’t have been able to stand the chatter!
Counting the days/hours yet?

I love seeing how they are sleeping under their quilts!!!!! 🙂 What a sweet sight. I remember praying over each of the girls as I made them…look at them now…four years old, cuddled together under their quilts! Precious! Tell them how much Aunt Rachel loves them…now I realize Mr. Will needs a quilt….!
