EA, MC, and Will got to experience Vacation Bible School for the very first time last week.
They had such a great time learning about God’s Word, meeting new friends, worshipping Jesus, and gaining a heart for missions.
I didn’t think that Will would be able to go, but found out on the second day that they had a class for three year olds as well, so I signed him up and I’m so very glad that I did. He doesn’t like to miss out on anything that his big sisters are getting to do.
By the end of the week, he was breaking out of his quiet shell and really enjoying himself, too!
Throughout the week they learned five Bible points, one for each day of VBS…
1. God’s Word is true.
2. God’s Word is comforting.
3. God’s Word is surprising.
4. God’s Word is life-changing.
5. God’s Word is for everyone.
I was very pleased that on the last day their craft entailed making a blanket that will be sent to children in Africa along with a coloring book. EA has prayed for the children in Africa that will receive them and for the safe travel of the blankets and coloring books every day since then. It blesses my heart to see my little girl express a heart for missions.
The parents were also invited to join the children on the last day for their closing program.
I just love the way that the three year olds walked in line by holding onto a rope. So cute!!
The girls were in different groups during VBS. This is the first time they have really been separated from one another. I was a little cautious about how they would do with this at first but I am so happy to report that they did wonderfully. They each made friends in their own classes and spent time talking to each other about their experiences in the afternoons.
During the closing program, MC’s group was called up to sing, so I sent Keith over to get a picture of our little girl. He came back and said that she didn’t go up. We assumed that she was just too shy for that. But when we asked her about it, we discovered that we were wrong. She wasn’t too shy, she just spaced out when they called her group up and missed the whole thing!
She said, “I looked over and my class was gone. I was just talking to myself. I didn’t know where they were and about started to cry.â€
But Jesus said, “Let the little children come to me and do not hinder them, for to such belongs the kingdom of heaven.†Matthew 19:14
