I wanted to make Valentine’s Day special for the girls this year. So, we had special meals throughout the day with a “red” theme and they received gifts from their Daddy. Valentine’s Day gives a special opportunity for Daddies to show their little girls true love.
We started off the day with french toast casserole covered in whipped cream, strawberries, and syrup.
EA and MC were really motivated to get dressed, make their beds, and brush their teeth after breakfast because I told them their presents from Daddy would be ready them!
They were so excited about them and tried to guess at what they were.
We have started the tradition of Keith giving the girls Barbie dolls for Valentine’s Day. This year he picked out the dolls he wanted to give them and we ordered them online. They have been here for a couple of weeks waiting on the big day.
I did get some chocolates for Will so he wasn’t left out.
He loved it!!
The girls spent most of the morning playing with their Barbies. Keith got on web cam mid-morning and he was able to wish all of us a Happy Valentine’s Day!
For lunch, we had party pizzas and strawberry banana smoothies. The smoothies were a huge hit!!
EA sometimes likes to help her little brother out. She’s giving him some of her smoothie. He was having a hard time sucking it through his straw.
I had plans to go to the Valentine’s Dinner on post that night. It was sponsored by our spouse’s club and the brigade. I actually wasn’t sure about going at first, but was encouraged by my friend, Carol. We went together and had a great time.
This is me and Carol. She has been such a good friend thoughout this deployment. I just love being able to get all dressed up!!
The Valentine’s dinner included social time, dinner, special video messages from our husbands from downrange, and dancing!
They even had raffle drawings for one spouse from each task force to win the first kiss upon redeployment.
My friend, Ann, won the first kiss for our task force!! I am so excited for her!!!!
It was also Ann’s birthday, so we were able to sing Happy Birthday to her and she had birthday cake!
Remember last fall when I participated in the Iron Spouse Challenge? I’ve built such a special friendship with my fellow RAM Divas…here we all are.
It is always so hard to be away from your husband on special holidays like Valentine’s Day. I am so glad that our spouse’s club thought of a way to make it fun and special. It makes it easier to be surrounded by friends who are going through the same thing as you!
I hope you all had a great Valentine’s Day weekend as well. I would love to hear all about it in the comments!!

I was glad to see you there! You looked gorgeous! 🙂 I have a hard time chatting at parties with loud music. I will look for you at a (quieter?) social and be more sociable. I love Valentine’s Day also. I will be sad to take down the decor in the next weeks :(.

It looks like y’all had a great Valentine’s Day. I think it’s so wonderful you were able to go out and have some fun for a while with some ladies. I went to a dinner at my church with a friend and we had lots of fun too!

Our Valentine’s Day celebration was a little different this year. We have two kitty cats who we adore. They are such sweethearts, good companions and they make our life better just by being present. We adore them and love spoiling them rotten.
We agreed to spend less than usual for Christmas and set our budget low to put a little back for our kitties surgeries. For Valentine’s Day Jeff made me two sweet cards that look like Henrietta and Bessie, our cats. I made a list of “25 Random Things I Love About My Husband”, printed it in red ink on white paper . On Friday night, we picked up dinner from Fazoli’s, a fast food Italian place here in town.
Saturday morning bright and early we packed up the babies and took them across town to our Vet. . She was so sweet to call and update us on their condition after surgery. God’s timing is perfect because Bessie had a uterine infection that would have only gotten worse had we not taken her in.
All day Saturday we moped around the house. The silence was deafening and there was no one to greet us when we walked in the door. Doc decided that the girls needed to spend the night at her house just as a precaution. When we went to bed we were lost without cats hogging the bed! We both slept so restlessly and when we woke at 8:30 am Sunday morning Jeff looked at me and said the same thing I was thinking “Let’s call Doc and see how the babies are and when we can bring them home!”.
That is why I love my husband. He is such a sucker for animals and babies just like me and he adores our fur babies as much as I do. Jeff even got to work making a ramp for them to get in and out of bed. They weren’t supposed to jump for a few days so he found some scrap wood and picked up a carpet remnant. We sat it beside our bed and showed them how to use it when tey came home so they wouldn’t hurt their little bellies. Now they love it and it’s a permanent fixture!
In the end the cost was a little more than we planned for but well worth it. We invested in the health of our kitty cats and in the joy that they provide us with. They won’t have to worry about uterine infections or cancer, they have clean teeth and their shots are up to date for a year! Without a doubt, this was the best Valentine’s Day gift we could have given one another. Maybe next year we can go away for a romantic weekend…
