I participated in an Art Journaling chat at The Lilypad today titled, “Fear and Myths of Art Journaling”.
The three myths and/or fears shared were:
- You must be an artist to do it
- You have to have pure inspiration before you start
- You can only art journal bad horrible feelings…no happy thoughts
I have to admit that these are some of the fears I’ve had of art journaling myself. But at the same time, art journaling is something that I’ve wanted to give a try (digitally, of course).
The chat ended with me feeling encouraged to just try it and that the important thing was to have fun and PLAY when art journaling. We were given the challenge to create an art journal page for a simple, everyday task.
This is the page that I created about my morning routine and I think I broke every one of those myths in creating it. I’m definitely not an artist, I did not have pure inspiration before I started and it’s about happy thoughts.
And I must say that I did have fun while creating this!
