Blogging this week has been an all out uphill battle. It’s not that I don’t have anything to say or that I don’t have pictures to post, but I just cannot seem to find the time this school year.
The end of the day usually finds me utterly exhausted and by evening if we don’t have an outside the home activity, all I have energy to do is go to bed and read.
But I am pressing on… 🙂
It seems that every time I get really discouraged with blogging and on the verge of throwing in the towel on the whole thing, I’m encouraged in some way to keep going.
I may not be the most eloquent writer and I don’t have the most important or pressing messages to relay, but I do love sharing our life with you and I love connecting with every person who stops by here. So…thank you for hanging in there with me! I appreciate you so much!!!
I’m excited to be back with a “5 on Friday” post…these are some of my favorites to write…totally random and fun stuff to share!
In September, I read three incredible books about Afghanistan refugees by Khaled Hosseini beginning with the book above, A Thousand Splendid Suns. I followed it up with reading And the Mountains Echoed and The Kite Runner. These were all very fascinating reads that I had a hard time putting down to get anything else done. It really brought the Afghanistan culture, and refugee struggles to life.
Fall TV is upon us…yay!!!
Nashville is my personal favorite show this fall. I usually watch it the day after it airs on Hulu (usually while folding clothes). My husband and I are also watching Gotham together and I’m trying to watch Grey’s and Scandal. We were looking forward to watching Blacklist, but it doesn’t look like it’s going to be on Hulu, so we’re going to blacklist it…ha!
And that’s about all the TV we can make time for at the moment.
What are your favorite shows right now?
The kids and I went to pick apples at Cider Hill Family Orchard today on our second field trip with Legacy Christian Academy. I’m really loving being a part of this homeschool co-op. The kids are making friends (and so am I!!) and we’re getting out on some fun field trips!
They picked a half bushel of apples this morning while I took photos. That’s my kind of apple picking!
We followed apple picking up with a picnic lunch including apple cider doughnuts…yum!
Now I need to get to cooking some apples. I’m planning to make some applesauce, apple butter, an apple crisp, and EA wants to make an apple cake. What are your favorite ways to use up apples? Do you have a favorite recipe?
I received some delicious smelling Fair Trade coffee in my Fair Trade Friday club box this week. This inspired me to pick up a french press at Target today, which also led me to splurging on a coffee grinder at the PX this evening. I’m looking forward to trying french press coffee for the first time! In fact, that’s exactly what I’m doing as soon as I hit publish on this post. This will be quite the departure from my Keurig coffee.
I love fall decorating!!! I have some pumpkins like this that I’m going to vinyl this weekend. I can’t wait to show you the results!!
I hope you have a wonderful weekend with your family!
Happy Friday,

I understand, I don’t even homeschool but seem to be so busy these days. You would think with both kids in school, one til 1:00 and one til 4:00 I’d have lots of time to get stuff done. Not so much between never ending errands, cooking, cleaning and being very involved at both schools. I finally got my craft table unburied under piles of “stuff” that have been there since July. Maybe now I can have to some time to do a few things I enjoy 🙂 I am an entire season behind in Nashville, need to catch up. I started watching Grey’s this summer too, am up to season 5.
And am looking forward to going apple picking soon at Carter Mountain in Charlottesville, VA 🙂

I am enjoying the new season of Grey’s so far. I love to watch Bones. Can get creepy at times, but I just love it!
