I have been living life on the wild side without menu planning while my parents have been visiting. That has meant lots of trip to the commissary. I think I had to make three trips on Friday–YIKES!! But I was able to get out and go shopping without three little ones tagging along and that makes it a whole lot easier.
We actually ate in most nights, though. My mom cooked for us a couple nights and my parents were able to get a taste of my cooking some nights as well.
Sadly, they left this morning to begin their trip home. We had a wonderful visit and the children and I will miss them very much!
So, I’m back in the swing of things this week with a brand new menu.
Monday – Food Court
Tuesday – leftover Beef Stew with rice and macaroni
Wednesday – Baked BBQ Chicken with mashed potatoes and green beans
Thursday – All You Can Eat Chicken at the Rhinelander
Friday – Meatballs and Pasta
Saturday and Sunday – Mexican Chicken
While I’m talking about food, I just have to share an easy, delicious recipe for Caramel Pull-Apart Biscuits. I made these today and they were incredibly melt-in-your-mouth good!!!
* 2 cans (12 oz each) Pullsbury Golden Layers refrigerated buttermilk biscuits (I had to use 4 6-oz cans because our commissary didn’t have these)
* 1 cup packed brown sugar
* 1/2 cup whipping cream
* 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1. Heat oven to 350*F. Spray tube cake pan with cooking spray. Separate each can of biscuit dough into 10 biscuits; cut each biscuit into fourths. Layer biscuits in pan.
2. In small bowl, mix remaining ingredients; pour over biscuits.
3. Bake 30-35 minutes or until golden brown. Immediately turn pan upside down onto heatproof plate; let pan remain over biscuits 5 minutes. Serve warm.

MMM those bisquits sound yummy. Maybe I’ll make them next time we have company for breakfast?! Thanks for sharing. Glad you had a good visit with your parents. Hope you adjust quickly to your normal routine again. I know it is hard to say goodbye.
When does your hubby come home? Just wondering… I haven’t been reading long enough to know the details of when he left and how long he is over there for.

so sad to see that your parents had to leave already – it seems like the time went really fast! I love monkey bread – that’s what we always called it.

Those biscuits sound so good! My sister, Aunt T, has a similar recipe that she makes on Christmas morning. YUM!
Enjoy the chicken. I haven’t found anything that is “all you can eat” here. I guess the French just love their extended meals way too much!

Hello,
My name is Paulette,
I read about the award you gave to Laura. I linked on your husbands blog and read back several posts. I LOVED his perspective as a Chaplain and will go back and read more.
I know Kevin and Laura personally and have tried to be an encouragement to there ministry as chaplain. I honor them both for there committement to the army as Chaplain. I look at them both as a team and then I read your husbands line of you being a team as wll because I do believe that.
I know I cannot relate to the living the Soldiers life, but I do relate to the Christian side of life and I do support our soldiers and there families regardless of being “IN” the Military.
I enjoyed you blog very much and will pray for you daily.
May the Lord richly bless and keep Chaplain Andrews safe.

Hello Laura,
What a great website! I work with military families and this is a new one I can send them to! I found you through reading your husbands site, my oldest son is heading back to Iraq for a second time in September, and another son is contemplating becoming an Army chaplain, so of course these two sites hold a lot of interest for me. My friend Paula and I wrote a book for young children to help them with deployment. We have been meeting many families and seeing the need out there for Christian women to mentor the young women left at home. It is so important for the stability of children that one parent be there and available! I will be visiting your site often!Thanks!
