I had to keep mental note of all the funny things the girls had to say on our trip home this week. They were experiencing so many new things and were out of their minds tired by the time we landed that I knew there would be lots of opportunity for good blog fodder. I’m sure there are some things that I’ve missed, but here is the best of the best from my funny little girls.
———————–
We stayed at a hotel in Frankfurt, Germany the night before we flew home. They had a great restuarant where we were able to enjoy our last German dinner and have an excellent breakfast before our long flight.
Keith was getting Will something to eat for breakfast while I went upstairs to grab his sippy cup on the morning that we left. Keith came back to the table and waited was waiting on me when MC said, “Daddy, EA and I are hungry too!” The couple at the table in front of us didn’t have to wonder if we were American or not after that statement from our four year old.
————————-
During breakfast Keith got yogurt with granola. EA asked him why he had yogurt in his granola.
————————-
The first leg of our flight from Frankfurt, Germany to Washington, D.C. was incredibly long…..eight and a half hours long! Will slept for about 30 minutes of the flight and the girls slept for….none. Nope, none at all. Abotu half-way through the flight, MC looked over at me and said, “Mommy….I’m done with flying!!” Unfortunately, we still had about four hours to go.
————————–
We switched planes in D.C. and flew from there to Charleston, SC. During the one hour that we had in the Washington/Dulles airport, we had to make our way through customs, claim our checked baggage, re-check our baggage, and so through security again before boarding the new flight. As we were nearing the front of the customs line to have our passports checked, out of the blue, MC says, “Mommy, is my Aunt Jemima making pancakes?” The poor lady in front of us in line just could not contain her laughter!
—————————
The plane we flew on from D.C. to Charleston was teeny tiny! I’m sure everyone on it except for us were locals. EA helped us to attract a bit of attention when she expressed how we were all feeling by shouting “Yay America!!!!!” as soon as we were all settled into our seats. I explained that we were moving back to the states after two years in Germany.

Thanks for sticking with me during this time of transition during our move!

that not sleeping is my biggest fear about going to Bosnia this summer. I can’t sleep myself in economy, but if I couldn’t even rest because they were awake the whole time my nerves would be completely frazzled!
The quotes are fantastic, love the pancakes one!
Yeah America is right!!!!

Kids amaze me. I can’t imagine not sleeping on a long flight like that.
And I know just how your daughter felt. I’ve wanted to holler, “Yay, America!” on a couple flights myself when returning home. Made me smile reading about it.

What cuties! I have to agree with MC about being done with flying though. Those are some LONG flights! And ours never slept either.
